Why I became a certified Veteran Mortgage Advisor?

Why did I decide to became a certified Veteran Mortgage Advisor?  All throughout my career, I have seen so many veterans and their families either taken advantage of or just screwed up loans falling apart at the last minute because the loan officer didn’t know or understand the in’s and out’s of the VA loan process.  In my career, I have closed over a 1,000 VA home loans and got to be known as the VA loan expert in Tucson and other parts of Arizona.  With that said, I felt like I was still not living up to my commitment to be the best at serving and advocating for Veterans and their families.

The Veteran Mortgage Advisor community is tight-knit group of professionals dedicated to raising the bar in the lending industry for America’s Veterans and Active Duty Military members.  Being a part of this community not only allows me to share my knowledge about VA loans, but I am part of a group that is truly committed to be a well-spoken advocate for Veterans.

A large part of the eligibility to be able to join this community is to know the 26-7, the VA Lender Handbook.  It always surprises me how many loan officers call themselves “a VA Guru” or “VA Specialist”.. but  have never once read the VA Lender Bible (26-7)… or worse, don’t even know what 26-7 means.

Become an advocate for Veterans is one of the main reasons why I joined this community.  It is not just about loans, but all things related to the VA.  From PTSD to helping with non-profits and homeless Veterans to financial/wealth education for our Veterans.  Wide range of topics and resources are now available to me.  One member, for example, is an Officer with 92 for 22, a Non-Profit Organization raising awareness for PTSD & Veteran Suicide. He is also the Chapter Leader with VETSports West Michigan, dedicated to helping Veterans achieve better physical, mental, and emotional health through sports.
