What are the 2023 BAH Rates for Arizona? The 2023 BAH rates have been updated, which there is some great news for our active duty service members. The Department of Defense just dropped last week the increase rates for BAH or Basic Allowance for Housing, and it was a little shocking. The average increase was 12.1% across the board. It was expected for 2023 to be only 4.2% increase, so this is huge.
What is Basic Housing Allowance or BAH?
Basic Allowance for Housing or BAH is an allowance to offset a service member’s cost of housing when he.she does not receive government-provided housing. The BAH will depend upon your location, pay grade and whether you have dependents or not. The BAH rates are set by surveying the cost of rental properties in each geographic location. Therefore, Basic Allowance for Housing rates in high-cost areas will be much greater than those in low-cost areas. You can view these rates by visiting the Defense Travel Management Office Web page.
2023 BAH RATES - ARIZONA
We all have felt the pain from rising rent, gas and food prices this year, as inflation has crushed a lot of families. This includes our active duty service members and their families. Because BAH increases are in January, any rent increases throughout the year just forces so many of our service members to squeeze by. So in my eyes, this huge increase in Basic Allowance for Housing is much warranted. So take a look at these numbers:
BAH for Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ
First, an E5 in Tucson would receive $1737 with Dependents, $1302 without
BAH for Fort Huachuca, AZ
Next, an E5 at Fort Huachuca or Sierra Vista Arizona would receive $1446 with Dependents, $1149 without
BAH for Luke AFB, AZ
Next up, an E5 in Phoenix would get 2382 with dependents, $1830 without
BAH for Yuma, AZ
And finally, an E5 in Yuma would receive $1545 with dependents and $1200 without.
